This
year our 17th National Championships will take place on Saturday 14th
November 2009 at
Clements Hall Leisure Centre, Hawkwell, Rochford, Southend, Essex SS5
4LN. For further details visit the 'competitions' section of the website
or ask your local instructor.
The
Referee and Judges training was well attended. Ji grades and duan grades
were given an opportunity to practice their sparring and new duan grades
had the opportunity to ask Grandmaster Loke and senior masters many
questions.
Some
of the questions asked covered what techniques were and were not allowed,
how the scoring system worked, such as a clarification of hand signals,
how close a technique had to be in order to be scored, what the correct
etiquette was for entering and leaving the ring.
Those
present also had the opportunity to refresh their judging skills and
senior duan grades were called upon to demonstrate and refine their
refereeing skills.

Master
Korel and Master Nazim Gokcezade with students from Reading
Junior
grades were able to participate in practice bouts of sparring and in
timekeeping duties.
