Ladies Self-Defence Course
5th
June 2005
On
Sunday 5th June Grandmaster Loke instructed the first of two Ladies
Self-Defence courses taking place this summer at National Headquarters
in Grays, Essex.

Grandmaster
Loke addressing course attendees
The
course was open to Tang Sou Dao students of all levels and their families
and friends and it was good to see a mixture of ladies attending from
novice to Duan level students.

Practicing
the roundhouse 'groin kick' on the kick bat
Grandmaster
Loke started the course with a gentle warm-up session, followed by an
explanation of the self-defence stance.
Ladies
then went on to learn and practice evasion footwork in a group and then
with a partner role playing the 'assailant'.

Bending
the supporting leg when executing the kicking techniques
Effective
striking and kicking techniques to the 'assailant's' vulnerable areas
were covered in the course syllabus which lasted four hours (with two
well-earned tea breaks!).

Course
attendees also had the opportunity to practice falling safely and escapes/counter-attacks
to holds and grabs including ground prone positions.

The
course was enjoyed by all who attended. A further course will take place
on Sunday 3rd July at HQ.
