Self-Defence Workshops
for Brownies and Girl Guides 2003

South East Region

Master Goward (5th Duan) ran 'personal safety' workshops for the Brownies and Girl Guides in the South East Region in June this year. The workshop was an introduction to self-defence.

Girls of various ages attended and learnt basic techniques for evasion, kicking, striking, and escape from basic grip holds.

They used target pads and kick pads to help them to generate power against a target and worked with partners and in groups to practice their footwork and techniques.

Girls kicked their target pads as hard as possible for impact testing the technique.

This Brownie has just evaded the attack, kicked, and performed the palm heel strike with a very loud shout!
