2 Grading at Haywards Heath

On
Sunday 12th March over sixty students gathered together at the Dolphin
Leisure Centre, Haywards Heath to attend the grading class and examination.
Grading
was presided over by Grandmaster Loke and Master Adam Goward (5th Duan)
regional Director for Surrey, Sussex and Kent. We were also pleased
to welcome HQ and Rainham instructor Master Siew Ying Loke (4th Duan).

Students
included white belts (10th Ji) taking their first Tang Sou examination
and a range of students from all other grades, up to and including two
blue belt (2nd Ji) students who were brother and sister taking their
examination at the same time. It was also good to see family members
training together in the one hour lesson before the examination.

Orange

The
lesson before the grading held by Master Adam Goward gave students a
chance to practice their forms for the last time before the arrival
of Grandmaster M K Loke and daughter instructor Master Siew Ying Loke
and the commencement of the grading.

Also
in attendance were Epsom Downs instructor Tina Matania (3rd Duan), Wadhurst
instructor Graham Towl (1st Duan Senior), and East Grinstead instructor
Wayne Parsons (1st Duan).

Students
had to perform their forms (thau), followed by sparring requirements,
requested kicks and finally the breaking component of the examination,
the required kick through a breakboard.

Brother

Ping Ma Bu (horse stance)
The
two blue belts taking their examination successfully completed the required
five minutes of horse stance (ping ma bu), timed by Wadhurst Instructor
Graham Towl.

Retrieval
of the leg after side thrust kick (cher chuai ti)
Blue
belt students were also required to perform a ground kick on both legs
followed by jump side kick.

the student has passed the examination
