On
Saturday 12 June 2010 Master Tina Matania (4th Duan, Epsom Instructor)
and Master Nick Evagorou (4th Duan, Croydon Instructor) performed with
students from Epsom, Reigate, Croydon and Haywards Heath at the Ashtead
Village Day which was organised by the Rotary Club of Ashtead in Surrey.
Over
6000 people attended the event, one of the biggest privately managed
fairs in the South of England. This year the beneficiary of the funds
raised
from the day was the 'Help the Heroes' charity which gives support to
members of the armed forces returning from the front line.
A
big thank you to those who participated in the demonstration: Shawn
Feltham Instructor from Reigate, Jonathan King (Epsom), Jake and Ben
Fisher (Croydon) Julie Gray (Epsom), Nathan and Kanika Bharkhda (Epsom)
and Eddie and Joe from Haywards Heath ... a resounding TANG SOU!
Students
began by performing leg stretch and basic techniques for the crowd,
followed by basic form one.
The
demonstration included a performance of pinan form 2 with application
by Master Tina Matania supported by Instructor Shawn Feltham (2nd Duan)
from Reigate and Jonathan King (2nd Duan), Ji grades performing pinan
form 1, Master Nick Evagorou performing Louhan form 5, Duan grades Luohan
forms 1 and 2, ladies self-defence against stick and bottle, one-step
sparring with take-downs executed by Master Nick Evagorou, sparring
and tile breaking including spin back kick by Jake Fisher (Croydon),
kicking techniques by Jonathan King (Epsom) and Master Matania and a
stunning jumping back kick through breeze block by Master Evagorou.
The
finale to the demonstration was Instructor Shawn Feltham smashing roof
tiles over the 'iron shin' of Master Evagorou!
PS:
Happy Birthday Kanika - what a great way to celebrate your birthday!
