Supported
by his class Shi Siong's (seniors) Wayne Rumble (2nd Duan - Grays) to
the left of the picture below, and Mark Jennings (Senior 1st Duan -
Grays), 9 year old Sahim looks remarkably poised considering the position
he is in.
Sahim
(1st Ji - Grays) who has trained at Headquarters for three years is
comfortably demonstrating full box splits gained from many hours training
and stretching exercises. It would be foolish however to give all credit
simply to his continuous hard training, for Sahim must also be naturally
more supple than many, and the scenario depicted is definitely not for
everyone.
Even
for those who can achieve and maintain the box splits (and I'm sure
we will be hearing from them soon), the above is not something to be
enacted without the correct supervision and we would caution against
a spate of student photographs attempting to out-do each other! Nevertheless,
it is certainly a goal to aim for and any advance is an improvement.
Well
Sahim ... what next?!
