Grays/HQ: Sponsored Kick
for Cancer Research
in memory of Matt Mayatt

4th December 2004

On Saturday 4th December 2004 at 1:30pm students of all ages and belt levels gathered at Headquarters after class to participate in Nicola Mayatt's Sponsored Kick in memory of her husband Matt who passed away with cancer on 28th July 2002.

Students were eager to do their best and perform as many kicks as they could within the minute.

At the start of the event, each student took their turn, assisted by a 'counter' and a 'kick bag holder'. Students anxiously glanced at the wall clock as time was running out and their 'official counter' announced how many kicks they were achieving.

The event was presided over by Grandmaster Loke and Master Siew Ying Loke who were pleased to see such good spirit in all the participants. Everyone did well and at the end of each session received a round of applause from the crowd.

Then to speed up the process, three students at a time performed their kicking challenge.

2nd - Luke Preston who achieved 98 kicks
3rd - Luke Walsh who achieved 95 kicks

So far Grays club/HQ has raised an estimated £500 and this figure is rising. This will be added to the other amounts being raised in clubs around the country.

Well done to everyone!
