Epsom
Club: Sponsored Kick
for
Cancer Research
in
memory of Matt Mayatt
20th November 2004
On
Saturday 20th November 2004, Master Goward's Epsom Club took part in
the Sponsored Kick in aid of Cancer Research.

Master
Goward (5th Duan) with Epsom Club Students
The
sponsored kick was organised by Nicola Mayatt in memory of her husband
Matt who was the instructor who founded the Davis Estate club in Kent.
Matt sadly passed away with cancer on 28th July 2002.
A
group of Epsom students took part in the kick after class and over £700
has been pledged so far for Cancer Research UK and this figure is still
rising!
Students
had to perform as many kicks as possible within one minute and timing
was strict, to the last 10th of a second on the stopwatch. The foot
had to touch the floor in between each kick and the bat had to be kicked
properly for each one to qualify.
Epsom's
'star performer' was 1st Ji, red belt, Trevor Bardouille, who performed
99 front thrust kicks in one minute.
Epsom's
'star fundraiser' so far is Jonathan King who has been pledged in excess
of £400 - well done to Jonathan for asking everyone at his workplace
for donations.
Thank
you to everyone who took part and made donations. If you would like
to contribute to this worthwhile fund-raiser please address cheques
to 'Cancer Research UK' and send them to HQ or hand them to your local
instructor.
