Croydon:
National Championships 2006

Instructor Nick Evagorou with students who competed at this year's
Tang Sou Dao National Championships

With the standard improving year after year, which is a testament to Grandmaster Loke and the development of Tang Sou Dao, I knew this year was going to be a tough Championship for my students and I.

Most of my students are no longer at the beginner stage of their training and the competition at Championships and regular practice becomes more intense as your grade gets higher. This goes without saying but the willingness to try harder, improve your technique and learning from your mistakes must come from within. But most of all they must enjoy what they are doing.

The students showed all these attributes as they left this tiring day with the same gleaming smile that they arrived with because they gave it their best on the day regardless of the result. That is all you can ask of them and I feel very proud.

There were 20 competitors from Croydon and we came back with 15 medals:

Nick Evagorou - Instructor 1st place Thau, 2nd place Sparring

Jake Fisher 2nd place Thau

Nuria Sanchez 2nd place Thau, 1st place Sparring
