2 Demo team L to R:
David Russell, Russell Jones, Simon Green, Jake Fisher, Tina Matania,
Barry Fisher, Master Adam Goward (6th Duan), Nick Evagorou, Shaun Feltham,
Robert Agnew, Jonathan King and two junior red belts from Croydon
On
Sunday 22nd June Epsom, Croydon and Tunbridge Wells students travelled
to the Tunbridge Wells Sports Centre in St. John's Road to train with
Master Goward (6th Duan) for the morning's lesson. After the lesson
ended a small grading took place for a few students taking their ninth
and eigth ji examinations.
We
then had a short break for a cup of tea and light lunch. After doing
a quick run through of the demo orchestrated by Master Goward we travelled
in convoy a short distance up the road to the field where we were to
do a demonstration for the Lions Club fun day. Our spot was after the
morris dancers and dog obedience show (most entertaining).
The
team began by performing basic form one together.
Then
Tina Matania, Jonathan King and Shaun Feltham performed pinan form two
in unison and then demonstrating the application of the form.
This
was followed by a selection of breaking techniques including the demonstration
of the double break in luo han form two by Barry Fisher, a jump back
kick by Nick Evagorou, spin back kick and jump roundhouse kicks in unison
by Robert Agnew and Jake Fisher, backfist and sidekick breaking by Croydon
juniors and tile breaking over the ribs by Croydon Instructor, Nick
Evagorou.
Nick
will soon be representing Great Britain in the Wushu Tournament held
at the Beijing Olympics in August 2008 and we wish him great success
with the forthcoming competition.

Barry Fisher lifted Tina Matania (standard weight plus one medium size
bowl of chips at lunchtime!) above their heads to demonstrate flexibility
of forward splits.
