CHAMPIONSHIP DAY 16th NOVEMBER 2019

This year’s Championships will be held on 16th November 2019 at Clements Hall Sports Centre, Hawkwell, SS5 4LN. It will be open to all members 9th Ji (Yellow Tag) and above. There will be a Thau (Forms) event and a Tooi Ta (Sparring) event. This is a great way to practise with each other, to test your own technique and confidence, and to meet others who are at the same level in different clubs. Speak to your instructor for any further information. The enrolment forms and schedule will be released in due course. Instructors to inform GM Loke as to any demonstrations they wish to put together.

GRAYS HQ REFEREE, JUDGES AND CHAMPIONSHIP RULES TRAINING 2019

Sunday 29th September 2019 2.30-5.30pm: For the attendance of 4th Ji and above. All those who are or are interested in becoming Referees, Judges and officials to attend.  

Officials:  Instructors must encourage their students from 4th Ji (green belts ) to take on the duties of Time-Keepers & Scorers.  Bring them to this meeting for the experience, if you deem them suitable.
Ringside Judges:  All Duan grades from 18 years of age are eligible to be judges.  Those under 18 are also eligible with the approval of senior instructors/ shifu.   New Judges are encouraged to take part and practice in this day.
Referees:  2nd Duan and Above from 18 years of age are eligible to qualify.  Referees hold a great responsibility to ensure safety and fairness.  So, continued practice is vital.
Thau Judges:  3rd Duan and Above are selected according to their personal understanding of the thaus, as recommended by senior instructors.

Instructors must try to bring along students to this meeting to provide free-fighting bouts for judging/referee practice.

GRAYS HQ MASTERS CLASS AND GRADING 2019

Sunday 2nd June 2019 2.30-5.30pm: For the attendance of 3rd Duan and above. This is a good opportunity to practice All the thaus and application in the One-Step Sparring/ Self-Defence in line with my recent update of the Duan Advanced Syllabus in June 2018.  I have also selected a few masters for their promotion test..

NEW FORMS AND SPARRING CLASSES GRAYS HEADQUARTERS 2019

In 2019 there will be weekly classes at Grays focussing on Thau/Forms and its application in One Step Sparring. There will also be focus on Self Defence and Free Sparring.

Tuesdays 7.00-8.00pm All Ages, Orange Belt up (6th Ji)
Fridays 6.00-7.00pm Children U11. Orange Belt up (6th Ji)

GRADING DATES  AT GRAYS HEADQUARTERS 2019

Ji Grading: Sundays- Class at 12.00-1.00pm. Grading 1.00 -2.30pm.

Bring along your membership card and grading form and the appropriate grading fee. You can find out the grading fee from your instructor or calling HQ. All those grading must have up to date membership.

SENIOR CLASSES AT GRAYS HEADQUARTERS 2019

Note this year Senior Classes will be 2 hours long and start at 9am.
Senior Classes Blue Belt and Above: 1 Sunday a month 9.00-11.00am 13 Jan/3 Feb/3 Mar/7 Apr/5 May /2 Jun/7 Jul/8 Sep /6 Oct/3 Nov/1 Dec.
Price £13.00 pp (£22.00 for two in a family, £28.00 for three in a family and £34.00 for four in a family attending)

Note that black belt gradings will take place after the senior classes in March and October. Attendance of this Senior Class is compulsory between each Duan Promotion Test (minimum of 4 classes for those residing less than 50 miles radius of HQ and minimum of 2 classes for those residing more than 50 miles radius from HQ)
