Tang Sou
Dao students are no strangers to charitable works or fundraising and
some members of a class in Kent recently demonstrated this most admirably.
Members Matthew
(1st duan) and Nichola Mayatt (5th Ji) of Woodhurst were so grateful
for the treatment their daughter Kayleigh received after her birth at
the Medway Maritime Hospital's baby unit, they wanted to repay this
kindness and approached Master Keith Blakemore for the go-ahead for
a sponsored kicking event.
Thus, members
of this club met at the Strood Sports Centre in Kent and individually
kicked a target pad as many times as possible in one minute raising
£720 which was donated to the Oliver Fisher baby unit and was
very well received.
King of the
Kickers was 3rd duan Adam Blakemore who managed 101 kicks in the minute
....
Well done
everyone.
Incidentally,
the local paper reported on the event and duly gave Adam credit for
his kicks but gave his age as 9!
Being a 3rd
duan, that meant he took his first black belt at the age of four and
must have started at the age of one, doing about 3 lessons a week ....
anyone top that?
